Mohamed Semra

Maribyrnong city council, Burndap ward

Hey there, my name is Mohamed Semra, I am an independent candidate running in the upcoming Maribyrnong City Council elections to represent Burndap Ward across the suburbs of Maribyrnong, Footscray and Edgewater. I’ve been a proud local resident for 20 years, attending both primary and high school here, and starting my business in this community. I have been lucky enough to call the west my home. Growing up my mother was my greatest role model, she instilled in me the values of kindness, empathy and resilience, encouraging me to do what little I can for my community. That is why I have dedicated my career to community centred work.

My approach to decision-making is community-centred, and if elected, I will work for you. As an award winning Human rights advocate and Social entrepreneur, I have always believed in the power of community and the strength we gain from supporting one another. That is why I am excited to announce my candidacy for local council, where I will continue to put our community at the heart of what I do because It is important that council is responsive to the needs of the community it serves.
