Kun Huang

Labor Candidate - Regents Park Ward - Cumberland Council

As a councillor for one of the most popular and diverse Local Government Area in the Sydney metropolitan region, my colleagues and I are responsible for representing some 24,000 residents and overseeing an organisation with over 1,000 employees and contractors, and an annual operational budget of some $200 million.

I work closely and in collaboration with local residents and the senior executive team of Cumberland Council in developing council’s policies, formulating strategies for the future of this area, and reviewing the performance of the council in delivery of essential services and key capital work projects. In this regard, my main objective is to advocate for cleaner streets, adequate funding and maintenance for communal facilities, and sustainable developments.

As a young person who grew up in a first-generation migrant’s family, I value Cumberland Council’s youthfulness, diversity, and dynamism above all. That is why I serve as a member of the council’s Youth Advisory Committee and the chair of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Advisory Committee, and in these roles driving programs that bring about people from different cultural backgrounds and engaging young people are among my highest priorities.
